I am about to put my engine back in the car and am putting in a new starter, alt, power steering pump and fuel pump.

On the fuel pump presently there is a mechanical one. The carb is a Holley 650/4 with electric choke. Would putting a new mechanical back in instead of an electrical with a regulator be a mistake? This car is strictly a daily driver and not anything more.

I would stick with the mechanical pump for a daily driver. I have one of the holley 60 gph mechanical pumps on mine.

I have the street Carter - 6 psi - and it is more than sufficient. Don't need a regulator. An electric pump is a waste of your money for a street/strip car.
