I have a 86 Iroc with the 305 TPI engine 700R4 trans. The cooling fan will not come on at any temprature. You can jump it at the relay and the fanm operates. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

2 things to check is your relay good, if you can jump it an hear it click in side then the relay is probbaly ok. i would then suspect the fan temp sending unit not giving the signal to the relay. those tp camaros have a ton of sensors one for manifold heat one for gauge one for spark knock an then for the fan. a easy way to fix until you find it if you need the car is to find a keyed 12 volt source an jump it to the relay so the fans come on with the key. if memory serves the one for the fan is down below on the intake upfront below throttle body.

Greetings korvettekarl,

Welcome to the site! Try letting your engine run for awhile with the air conditioner running and check to see if your cooling fan comes on. On some of these models, the cooling fan won't come on unless the air conditioner is running. Hope this helps. http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

Thanks for the answers. The fan will come on if I jump it at the relay. The sensor in the head is new. It won't come on even when the A/C is on. The relay is also new.

bet that its the temp. sensor for triggering the fan, probably in your radiator, i think the one in the head could be for the gauge/idiot light. i dont know, dont own a IROC, but thats the first thing i'd look at, myself. good luck

Time to go to get a new motor for the fan, cost about 15 bucks at the junk yard, My 1989 RS was doing that same Crap, easy fix too..hell I work in radio and have limited mechanical knowledge and I was able to do it myself, not the car runs cool even in 90 degree weather...Booker
