Can someone please help, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm working on my 79 RS. It has a stock replacement fuel pump (w/return line), And I have new holley 1850 600cfm carb. No matter what I do the back float bowl over flows when I start it up. I have checked the needle & seat for dirt, damage etc.. The float moves freely, I even put a holley fuel regulator on it. I have adjusted the float to as low as the adjusting nut will allow. Still it over flows. Anyone?

What are you getting for fuel pressure at the bowls? I ran into the same issue on my '67 and found out that the carburetor liked between 6 and 6.5 for line pressure.
When you removed the rear bowl and turned it upside down, where you sure that the float was level? Where is the gas in relation to the rear sight plug?

Well I went and found an off brand needle & seat and installed it and my problem stopped. As for pressure it is at about 5psi now. I'm going to play with it a little and see what happens.
So much for using Holley brand parts to fix it. The needle & seat I used the second time was a hygrade part.
It looks a little different but has the same overall dimensions.
