Just installed a factory tach in my 69 camaro. I thought my old Super tach was bad but the new tach does the same thing. The tach gets eratic after 4,000 rpms and the floats from 4k to 5.5k. I checked all the wiring and connections, also cleaned them. I changed the coil thinking it may be fluctuating the spark at higher RPM's. The Motor is 396 with the stock dist. (points) and stock coil. Help!!! : confused

Your points are shot...
Change your points and condensor and you'll be fixed..
My 70 nova gave me this problem years ago.
