I just bought a 67 camaro for 600. It has some rust spots and needs to be restored. But I'm cunfused about something. My door jam tag does not have the same info that the tag in the egine bay has.

Here is the info, Please help.
Door Jam #12337n102275
Engine bay #
08c E
ST 67 12437 NOR 2251 Body
TR 760-z F-F paint
3k

That's okay, Chevy-Boy..your VIN and trim tag appear to match as far as dates. Your car is a VERY eary built car(8C)..The sequence # at the end of the VIN never match the #'s on the trim tag..The VIN is an ASSEMBLY built # with the trim tag # is a Fisher Body built tag..GM built the "shells" one time and then they were assembled at another time..

also, the 12437 on the trim tag does not necessarily have to match the beginning VIN either..Fisher Body used a V8 code (4) on all the stampings because it wasn't necessary for them to have to know wether the car was going to be a V8 or L6, like your car was/is.

should be a 67 6 cylinder
with a 5th week of Aug build date.
Assembly plant is Norwood
E= black interior paint
760-z + black standard bucket seats
F-F = Marina Blue exterior paint top and bottom (no vinyl top)
3K= deluxe esterior trim.
is this the only codes on the tag?/ nothing around the 3K with 2/4 before them?

those are the only numbers that hve to do with term tags. Here is the kiker i do not now if it is a SS, RS, or Z. Because it has a SS hood, RS rims and Bueaty Rings. It all so has a V8 327 that came with the car it was automadtic but has a munic M22 4 speed.
So it just all cunfuses me. Now you know why i'm cunfused.

Motors come out, other motors go in, hoods come off, others go on. Rims unbolt, others bolt on..It's called the Camaro Game. Most Camaros are not as they seem and will never be the way they were originally.Not a bad thing, just the way it is...

In 67, All that info is on the cowl tag. In other years, the vin can rule out (but not necessarily rule in) SS or Z/28. In 12337 on the VIN, not the cowl tag, the first 3 means 6 cyl, ruling out SS or Z. If it's 124, then that would mean V8, but not necessarily SS or Z.

Every thing on the car is Original on the car but the paint job. The 327 is Original the hood is. The only none Original part is the transmission.

i'd say you have a base 67 camaro. wouldn't be SS no 350 or 396, Z/28 doesn't have the 302, and weren't the rally wheels standard? don't know, so it wouldn't be rs unless you have the hideaway headlights and other style options.

Sorry, but your car is definitely not original.
The VIN indicates that it had 6 cylinder when it left the factory.

That is what i'm trying to find out which Tag has the correct info on it. I bought the car for the second onwer she got it from her brother whom bought in new. She told me ever thing on the car was original, Expect for the transmission. Both tags have the same rivits and both are rusting the same way. I'm just trying to find out what the car came with when it was sold new.

One thing is for sure. With regard to the cowl tag, it's NOT an RS.

Curious: Only two owners, both related and no POP?

Give us the #'s on the block.

It was an L6. I personally wrote an FAQ just due to that confusion. See it at http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#VINvsStyle

Here is what i know about the egeine. It is a 327 that was high performances when the first owner had it. when in went to his sister that took of all the high perforemance parts ans put on a set of 350 iron head a stock cam and a z28 Q jet dual plan intake and the stock header but felt the high performance dual exhaust. I'm still trying to get all the gunk of the block to get two all the numbers. I'll get those as soon as i can.

HI. Got a dumb 'q' for you guys. ON my 67 camaro where would the bill/ build sheet be?
I'd like to find it because it would answer a lot of "Q's". Thanks.
