I know I'm asking way to many questions but I also have a 69 SS/RS convertable that I'm almost finished with it is a 350 300hp 4 speed car all that is left is to final sand the paint and install the engine. I bought a Comp Cams 268H High Energy, roller tips rockers,(the whole cam train, lifters, springs, push rods, rockers are Comp Cams units) Cloyes true roller, (it is a numbers matching block, tranny and rear end) but the heads are a 1972-194, the dist is from a 74 Chevelle? so I put a Petronix kit in it, stock pistons.650 Holley double pumper and a Edelbroc performer. Is this combo OK? Its a present for my wife for putting up with me for 12 years! Since she will be driving it I dont want her on me if she cant drive it. Does anyone know of a good dual exhaust kit for a convertable? All I see are coupe kits. By the way the car is black and she wants Z/28 stripes will that fly? I mean was that a option for SS's?
Or should I keep my attitude that its hers and she can have what she wants. Its not going to be sold either. Shes also wanting AC how is the Vintage Air units?
Thanks Again,
Mike

Vintage Air units work great. If your wife is going to drive it, I'd get rid of the 650DP and put a 600 vacuum secondary on it (#0-80145); DP's are hard to tune for off-idle response and general driveability, and get poorer fuel economy than a VS. Z-28 stripes were only available on Z's, although if that's what she likes, why not? All the Camaro parts houses have replacement dual exhaust systems, convertibles included.

I put a 268 Cam in a Ford 6-cyl truck and it ran great. The best thing I like about the cam was I did not have to change stock valve springs.

Cam had good vacuum, idled well, and good low end torque.
