i got the numbers off 350 block here they are: driver side bellhousing....GM 140(8?)10(8?)207, and i cant read the dials but heres the best i can do(standing @ the bellhousing). the 1st one, theres a long line at the 3oclock, the arrow is pointing at the 3rd one from that, clockwise (at about ur 6:30-7:00). the other dial has T D N, the arrow is pointing just past the N, passenger side bellhousing.....I(or 1, something long) then 19 9 S. inside bellhousing H15 207. timing area 207 G8. can any of u tell me what all this means? and would it be better to spice this block up or just go w/ a BB crate? b/c i kinda wanna put something big and mean in my Z. any idea on how many cubic inches i can get in my 82? sorry for all the jumbled mess above, didnt know how else to put it. thanks a lot!!

Your block (14010207) was originally a 1980-85 350 4-bolt truck engine; if it's in good shape, it would be a good basis for a performance buildup at relatively low cost (compared to a BB).

I have the same block (4-bolt) out of an '80 half-ton 4x4. They could have been either 2 or 4-bolt blocks. I've been told that they could crack in the lifter-valley area so get a good mag done on it. I'm gonna make over 300hp with it no problem.

If it's cubes you want, why not get something bigger?

yeh i've heard that they could crack, didnt know where so thanks. i'll take it to a shop here to get it miked....as soon as my truck gets outa the shop, its been 6 months i'm getting pretty pissed, oh well thats another story lol. i was looking at bigger cubics but a friend of mine said that i wouldnt want anything to radical that i couldnt drive on the street here. so hes suggesting a low compression engine making about 330 or 340hp, then slap a 500hp shot of happy gas on top.
