I posted earlier (Saturday) about a 69 L78 car I found for sale. I did not have much time to look at it at the time and therefore my survey was a little general. I am planning to look at it again this coming Saturday morning (with a fine tooth comb). Can anyone offer some advice as to what to look out for, especially with a car such as an L78? From what I could tell the car appeared very complete and original. The owner did say that the motor was a 396 / 375 out of a 68 Chevelle. Thanks in advance.

If at all possible, get underneath the car. Rust in Wisconsin is as bad as it is in Michigan, I'm sure. Floors, both interior and trunk, the bottom of the 1/4's and fenders, the wheelhouses, around the windshield and backglass, dimples under the vinyl top if it has one, hatchet jobs on any of the wiring, mis-aligned subframes from old collision damage, poor fitting doors, mis-aligned sheetmetal and a thousand other items that space prevents listing.
Just use the perverbial microscope. Maybe you found a good one. Good luck to you.

Another place some may not think about is in the trunk. If they'll let you get in the trunk on your back and look up under the package tray area. This may sound a little crazy, but this is a area you can't see unless you get in the trunk and if there is any rust in a camaro 1ST Gen. it will be there. This is my 2 CENT. Good luck and God bless.
