I just purchased a basket case 68 Camaro. No info or history on the car.I purchased it s a base coupe. When I got it home I did a quick turn counting check of the diff. I came up with approx 4.88.When I started checking codes I was surprised to find that the BX is a 4.88 code.My question is how rare was this and is it possible that this is original to the car? (it appears to be by the amount of matching crud)
pass side axle tube code: BX0221 E Casting Date: B78 Cowl Tag:6812437 NOR 52897 717 D2 VIN#: 124378N352771 Thank You for any replies......Billy

What's the build date of your car?

It looks like it's a November VIN, so it's 3 months too early for the axle. So it is not original. Pretty scarce axle though.

Kurt S. Thank You for the info. I am assuming the build date IS determined by the VIN. Oh well , maybe I can find somebody that needs this for their numbers matching resto. I would love to know what motor/trans combination this was ordered for....if only parts could talk...LOL...Billy
Build date is 11C confirming a no match http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif

Would have come in a Z or a L78.

11C or 11E?

Recheck indicated an "E"....You guys must have an incredible data base to find that little discrepancy. I have spent many hours on this site and the .org site, and I'm sure will spend many more. The amount of info is simply outstanding. Thanks again and keep up the good work !
