the vin number is-12437N324655
Trim PLate-

ST 68-12437 NOR 25542 BODY
Tr 714 N2 PAINT
its a non-numbers matching car

can someone tell me what I am looking at here?

Also how can you tell if the car is a true SS, it has the vented 4-slat hood, multi-leaf springs, it has power drum brakes all around (i thought SS models came with power front disc brakes????)the rear end was a 12-bolt, but was changed to a 10bolt with posi.
thanks to all who hel[p me figure this one out.

The HD engine is from a 69 L65 350/250HP with a TH 350 trans.

Does it have the finned SS hood emblem of the one with the 4 square velocity stacks? In October of 68 the 4 square stack ones were used on Big Block cars. Where is the heater tubes on the firewall, out near the fender or in near the engine.

Discs were not a required option on SS's until the 69 model year.

Does the owner still have the 12 bolt rear axle, or is this just hearsay?

What type of transmission is in the car? What shape is the crossmember, round tube steel or flat? If it is flat what is the shape of the opening where the transmission bolts to the crossmember rectangular, or rectangular with a corner cut off.

Fathom57, I don't know about the rest, but the HD code was used on 350/250 engines with turbo350 in 69. Check the date code in back to see if it's a 69 block. Kevin

Dang, Mark was a little faster on the draw! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
