How can you check the trim tag with the VIN?

CRG compares the body numbers and build date to the "range" of VINs for the same period to see if it is "normal" It's one way to determine if the the trim tag has been replaced to make a regular car a special one.
For example, combining a clear-titled rust free plain jane with the trim tag from a rusted out, wrecked, stripped down RS/SS big block.

Add a little more unscroupulous (sp) decking/restamping/date matching, and you have a $35,000 (or more) "All original" car. Education can be used to create fraud, or prevent it. Fortunately CRG, and most of the hobbiests fall into the latter category.
