Hi everyone. I have a Camaro that I thought was an SS. It has all the SS emblems and was told by the previous owner that it was a true SS and not a clone. Here is the Cowl Tag info and VIN any info would be greatly appreciated. Also, did an SS (350) ever come with an M@22 Rockcrusher trans?

VIN # 124379N693640

COWL TAG

ST 69 12437 NOR 144538 BDY

TR 711 69 69 PNT

09 E X44

Thanks

Sam

Hey Sam...welcome to the site. I've learned a lot here and I'm sure you will too. I hate to tell you but if the Cowl Tag is original and correct then what you have is definitely NOT an SS350 originally. Can you post a photo of it? I'm sure a lot more people will chime in soon...some of them are tracking all these VIN tags and codes so they may ask ya for more info.

Read this.

No M22 (or M21) in SS 350's - only M20.

X-44 - Base car - no SS

Cortez Silver V8 coupe with black standard interior, build fifth week of September 1969.

Does the M22 in the car match the partial VIN? Does it have power disc brakes, cowl hood, 12 bolt rear? There's an outside chance it could be a COPO if the M22 is original.

the brake pedal is not the lower disc brake style

check under the drivers floor on the side of the frame to see if there is a brake proportioning valve

Jeff, thanks for the email. How can I tell if the VIN matches the M22? The 2nd and 3rd owner swear the M22 and 12 bolt are original.

There will be a VIN stamping on the main case along with a date code stamping. The stampings will be where the main case joins the tailshaft.
3925660 should be the main case casting number

You would have the partial VIN of 19N693640 stamped on yours.
