Well, I am building up my 383. Looking for reliability and performance for a street motor on pump gas.
I am willing to put in the top of the line equipment to keep maintanence as low as possible, as I am going to be away from my shop because of college 8 months out of the year. I am shooting for the ballpark of 450-475 horsies and am a fan of broad low torque curves. The tranny will likely be a buffed up T350 that will be built over summer.

Need any other info? Oh, I intend on using aluminum heads, by the way.

Sallee Chevrolet has cooked up a combo you will probably like. Basically, it is a stroked ZZ430. (uses H.O.T. roller cam with 1.6 roller rockers and GMPP fastburn heads.) Puts out 450 peak hp as a 377 (stroked 350 with zero overbore) and would put out a few more if you go .030 over on the bore.

The combo is streetable and powerful and sounds like what you are looking for.

Hey Kyle, i'm building a 383 as well for my 71 chevelle. Here's what i have so far.
4 bolt main block
SCAT stroker crank
forged i-beam rods
forged Federal Mogul pistons
block zero decked, bored .030, internally balanced, clearanced etc.

I am buying Trick Flow Twisted Wedge G2 heads, with Crane Gold Race roller rockers.
As for the cam, i plan on using a Crane hydraulic roller cam retrofit kit with, i think, .510/.519 list and somewhere around 230 duration.
Compression will be just about 10.3

I am also shooting for 450 hp (at least) on pump gas, and i think i will get it, especialy with the full roller valvetrain.
Only time will tell though.
