I'm helping a friend install a center mount fuel gauge in his 69 Camaro. The original large fuel gauge has a three-wire plug plugged into it. The center mount fuel gauge has three studs coming out the back of it to hook up the wiring. Question is, which color wire goes to which terminal stud? The wire colors are brown, pink and green (If I remember correctly)
thanks!
John

The wiring diagram shows three connections; looking at the gauge from the back side, there are three connectors in a "V" pattern. Diagram shows the 20 ga. tan wire going to the one on the left (wire from sending unit), 20 ga. black to the one at the bottom of the "V" (ground wire), and 20 ga. purple to the one on the right (12V feed).

Speaking of center fuel gage....I have the older repop which has vacuum molded housing. I just saw pictures of the new injection molded ones from Rick's. Anyone have any opinion on the new ones?

What is involved with mounting the center fuel gauge in a car that came without it? Do you have to cut the plastic center panel from the dash to install it, or is that part removeable (ie. held in with screws, clips, etc)?
Thanks

I have seen dash carriers with both solid centers and removable centers, My 69 has a removable unit which I took out when I installed the center clock. With the solid centers, you can cut out the middle section.

Thanks Gary. I plan on putting in a center gas gauge so I can put a tach in the dash, where the HUGE factory gas gauge is now.
