I have a weird question for the quru's. I have seen where some cars in the 554xxx VIN range have body sequence numbers of 145xxx opposed to the norm of 193xxx and up. I thought at first it was a possible trim tag swap but that point was proven wrong when other appeared. Anyone have a take on why this could've?
Regards,
Rob

The cars that are this far out of line are usually performance based models. GM must have underestimated production quantities at the beginning of the year and had a component delivery problem. Not sure if it was related to the 12 bolt rear axles, or an engine component. The backlog started to clear in late November, Early December of 68, so it took GM about a month to solve the issue.
