Welcome to a great site, your motor is one of two.
We can assume that it is not a 265 from a 57 fuel injected Vette

That leaves this;
1969 FK 327 Powerglide 210hp 2barrel from a full size car. Good news is that its a large journal 327. Its a good motor.

well the guy I bought it from said it was a corvette motor....but he also said it was a 327 and not a 265....I'll check some more nbr's later and see what kind of heads, etc. that I have. Thanks for the help. For a Michigan car it's relativly rust free with 86,000 miles. I'll try to post some pictures later.

:D Welcome to Team Camaro , site back, come often, stay late, and use the 'search' function liberally. Help others when you can and ask when you are stumped. Its a great site, good folks around every corner.
And dont mind Jeff in Hawaii, he isnt all that bad graemlins/clonk.gif

Where would the vin be on the tranny, and is there a way to tell if it's a m20-21-or-22 it is close ratio. I got the nbrs I have with a flashlight in the dark so when I get it in the garage and up on a jack I can look better. I was told it had a column shift from the factory so the tranny is probably adopted too.
All it really needs (as far as serious repairs go) is floor patches and repair to pass side rocker panel. Thanks for the welcome. I think I'll go try the search function....Lots of things to learn

CRG lists an 'FK' motor as a legitimate '69 327 for a camaro...and looks like my tranny is a M22 'rockcrusher'...are those a little more rare and desireable ? You guys have links to all kinds of info...pretty soon I'll be able to tell if it was raining on the day it was built .....Where should I look for a build sheet in a '69 from Norwood ?

chances are slim to none of finding a build sheet in a norwood built car. thats the bummer.
LA built cars had them above the gas tank in alot of cases.
If there is one, it MIGHT be in seat cushions, stuffed up under the dash, in corner of trunk, no real pattern at all. Most norwoods build sheets ended up in the trase. :eek:

As for Transmission coding/ stampings (partial VIN,etc) see:

Hope this helps-

Hey, it would cool if P9M22 decoded to M22, but that's just the ID and date code.

I believe the correct decoding of your trans is:

P = Muncie
9 = Model year 1969 (vs calendar yr)
M = August
22 = 22nd day of August
(I'm sure this is what Jeff meant graemlins/thumbsup.gif )

Since your trans date code is before Oct 21 of 1968, the best way to determine if its an M22 is to see if you have 2 drain plugs on the right hand side. Another way to determine the type of trans is if the trans is out of the car, the input shaft on M20's has two grooves, M21's have 1 groove, and M22's have no groves.

For reference, Muncie transmissions built after Oct 20, 1968 typically got an "A" after the date code for M20, "B" for M21, and "C" for M22.
e.g: P9T14A is for '69 Muncie, Dec built, 14th day, and the A is for M20.

Hope this helps.

I realize that sandi-Z. I went to the CRG page and used the tips they had to ID it. the only thing I havn't been able to check is the input shaft. Thanks again everyone for all the help

...Any luck finding the partial VIN?

If the partial vin would be stamped next to the build nbr then I can see it's there but can't get a good enough angle to read it.....but I will let you know when I do

I located some partial vin #'s on the front pad of the motor = 19N52642 and on the tranny = 112488. Even tho the transmission shows a build date of Dec there is definitly not an A-B-or-C behind the build stamp. But I'm pretty sure now it's a M21. I don't know where to look up head casting nbrs...on the drivers side I have 3782461 and under that L215 It has a Edelbrock torker manifold and a holly carb. What nbrs on the carb would help me ID it?

The 461 is a December, 1965 head - used on many high-performance applications. Look for a "List XXXX" number stamped on the front surface of the choke air horn, and there will be a 3- or 4-digit date code below it; post them and we can decode it.

FK is an original 69 Camaro 327. It's hard to find because there were actually no 327's built in 69, they ended in the calander year 1968. But, I think your Jan build is too late or borderline for the 327..

On the choke bell is list-1850-2 and under that is 0220. For Panther I know the motor is not original to the car. It has a differant partial vin.

The 1850 is an aftermarket "universal" replacement 600CFM Holley; probably has an electric choke. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
