I was reading through Old Car Trader and saw a #'s and code matching (they mentioned WZ code)67' Firebird with a hood tach. Was this a common option? If so was it available on Camaros as well? What code? Thanks for your help.

Firebird - yes
Camaro - NO

Not totally correct.
That hood tach style was an over the speed shop counter item, common in the 60/70's
I have an article from Cars magazine (early 70's, maybe 1970), about a Z-11 engine put into a 1969 by Motion. That Camaro had/used a Hood mounted aftermarket tach.
BUT, from the factory, 99.9% were only on the Firebird
