My 67 has a build date of 12D, the vin on the car is 124377N115003 does the production match the build date on the trim tag? I just wanted to make sure neither tag shows any sign of being messed with. Thanks for your help.

Well i hate to tell you this but something doesnt jive with your tag. My car is a 12B car with vin ending N150157 which is right for the build date. Yours obviously indicates that yours was built after mine but came off the line 35,000 cars before mine did.

My 67 Camaro is a 09C build date. The last six #'s in my serial # are 109000.There had to be more than 6003 Camaro built from the 3rd week of September to the 4 week of December.I would suspect that your cowl tag or serial # tag has been changed sometime in the past. With no more than 6003 car built in between yours & mine I would say that your Camaro should have been built in October 1966. Have you remove the wiper cowl to see if the serial # there matches the one on the drivers side door post? there is also one under the heater box cover. I would check to see if they all match.

I checked under the cowl and it did not match the vin tag has been moved according to one of the CRG members. Now I get to call my step brother who is a cop and make sure the car is not hot and someone changed the tag. I bought it off from a pal of mine from N.Carolina and he owned in for about 9 years so it was done before he got the car.

Check with Kurt at CRG & see if either serial # has been recored in their Data base. That might give you a little info if it has been registered there.Contact your friend that you bought it from & see if he can help you trace it back to the person that he bought it from. Personally I would trace it back as far as I could before I called any law enforement agency in on it, you could end up loosing your Camaro & a lot of money. Once a law enforcement officer is made aware of the serial #'s not matching, the car could be impounded till it is checked out. If you can keep us informed as to what happens. I hope that everything works out for you on it.

Just to tell all who helped me out, the original vin on the car came back not stolen. I have seen cars that have had stuff switched around on them, someone must have had a couple cars to make one. Thanks again for all your help.Have a good holidays.

I'm glad that everything worked out for you. My Family thought I was crazy for having all the #'s checked out on my Camaro when I first bought it, I have a friend that works for the Kentucky State Police in auto thieft he came down & we went over the car with a fine tooth comb to make sure that the car & every part on it had not been reported stolen, I had to have that piece of mind before I could start spending money on it. I had no Ideal of where the hidden vins were at that time. They all matched.
