My 69 Z28 has a block casting number of 3932388. The date code is T15 ONY. The "clock" cast is pointing to 6 o'clock. The block is stamped V0318DZ. I know this casting date is not one of the three listed for Z cars. Can anyone tell me if this is the original block and what does the T15 ONY and "clock" stand for.

V011318DZ is the only codes that mean anything here BUT there are to many digits in the date field.
V=Flint Engine Plant
011318=????
DZ=69 Camaro Z28 302//290hp, 4-speed, Holley Carb, AIR (pollution control Eqiup.), Special HP cam
T15ONY I don' think this is the casting date but some onter foundry mold ID. T was not used for casting date. T usually meant Tonawanda and the NY is evident for New York. Something wierd here, block cast at Tonanwanda and assembly in Flint? Chevy by the numbers explains the use of the clock. They represent hours in a shift, the screw in the center denoted the shift, flat was first and round was second.
As for the block casting 3932388 here's what Chevy by the numbers says about it.
Quote-
"Very little is know about this block. It seems that most 3932388 blocks were Tonawanda cast and built, but some Norwood assembled Z28s used this block wiht Flint produced engines. From all indications is identical to 3932386. It has been found in passenger cars with the 350/300hp engine suffix code stamping. At least four SS350 and at least two Z28 Camaros were built with this block, with casting dates from L 20 8 (Dec.20,68) to C 11 9 (Mar.11,69). At least one Camaro was built in Spetember 1969 with this block. Other cars could have received this rare block, but it is unknown which or why. Most 3932388 blocks are dated from September to December 1968."

ZMan,
You have some extra digits in your codes.
The casting date code shoulud be in the A 16 9 format.
The date stamp should be V0122DZ format.
Could you recheck these #'s and repost?
Or you can email me directly: ksonen@visteon.com.
Thanks!

In refrence to engine code 393288,I checked on web site page http:www./67camaros.davidv.net/block.htm and they claim your block code is a two bolt main 350 ci 300 hp engine manufactured from 1969 till 1976.Sounds like maybe somebody stamped in their own dz block if you catch my drift.Also they claim the clock markings were only on a few Siginaw blocks.The clock is a cirle of ten dots and an arrow points to the begining of a shift another dot outside the cirle points to the time of day.Hope this information is right,but I'd go check there for yourselfd just to make sure. Good luck and happy motorin!

Theres nothing wrong with the original assembly code. V0318DZ is what was originally posted. First replier added the extra characters to the code. It indicates a March 18th 1969 302/290HP engine assembled at the Flint V8 motor plant.
A 3932388 casting block is a 2 or 4 bolt main 350/300hp, 350/255HP, or 302/290hp block. This casting number was used from approximately 11/68 to 4/69. It is not a common casting number, but it does appear occassionally throughout that 4 or 5 month period. There is another current thread in this forum (Small Block Casting Number)about this block casting number.

There was a lot wrong with the original engine code. Note the date the the posting was edited (when the engine code was corrected).
ElCamino didn't just make up extra codes and I asked for a correction for a reason.
Impala: I've seen this block in Z28's, SS350's, and L65's (2bbl 350).
