I'm sure this has been covered before, so I apologize for the repeat. A friend of mine is looking for a camaro and he asked me where to look to verify the vin #'s. I told him there was a stamp under the cowl vent that should match the last 8 digists (I think?) of his vin tag on the dash. First, is that correct and second are there any other body stamps to verify? (I'm not aware of any) I just want to make sure he has the info he needs when he starts looking. I don't want him to be taken advantage of. As always, thanks for your help.

Yes, the vin # is stamped under the cowl panel. The only problem is that most of the time, you have to remove the panel and clean off the surface to see it. Sellers may frown on that unless it's a high dollar car.
The vin is also stamped on the firewall, behind the blower box. This requires major dismantling to see.
The engine and trans also are stamped; if he's looking for a numbers matching car.
If he finds a car that he is interested in, post the numbers here and we'll check them out.
Ahh..post #302..Couldn't let that pass without mention.

Thanks for the info. I don't beleive he is really looking for a #'s matching car. He is just looking for a solid cruiser to enjoy on sunny days and have some fun with. I'll pass along the info. Thanks again.
