Was wondering if any body else had any information about bellhousings on the 69 Z28? I know that all the reference books show the bellhousing # for 69 Z28s as # 3858403. I have a 06A 69 RSZ28 that i have owned since 1973 ( 41,000 miles now ) It is all original including smog etc. Imagine my suprise the other day when i was doing some cleanup under neath the car and noticed the bellhousing #s ended in 383. The bellhousing has never been changed since i have owned the car and as a matter of fact i knew the previous 2nd owner ( he owned the car 71/72/73) and it was never apart when he owned it either. Any body else run into numbers that didnt jive according to published data? Thanks in Advance.

rs, yes I had the 383 housing on my 69 z, o9E build date. In Hoppers 69 Camaro book, he lists the 383 as a smallblock housing, but in McNeishs book he lists the 403 housing. Maybe a shortage on the assembly line? don't know, I wasn't there. Anyway the two are identical except the numbers.
