my cars cowl tag reads
ST 67-12637 NOR 78143 BDY
TR 765-Z A-A PAINT
E-2 ELG3SLK
4N - 5BY
as far as i can tell this says it is a big block a/c car but i was told chevrolet never made one, any thoughts ?

ST 67-12637 = Coupe with custom interior
TR 765-Z = Black custom interior
A-A PAINT = black exterior, no vinyl top

E = All tinted windows (makes sense with a/c)

2ELG = A/C, 4-speed, and center console

3SLK = Z23 interior decor, Rally Sport, Z21 style trim group (I thought RS (Z22) included Z21?)

4N = L35 engine (396/325hp which makes it an SS as well)

5BY = Appearance group (bumper guards, floor mats, and door edge guards), and deluxe seat belts.

WOW! This is ONE DRESSED UP CAR! Don't worry about the A/C, 396/325 could have A/C. It was just the L78 396/375hp that couldn't.

Let us see some pictures!

Good Luck,

There were NO 67 big blocks made with A/C. And yes the codes 3L and 3K on the trim tag are incompatible. The VIN and Body number on the trim tag do line up with an 01C or D built car, but there is something not right with that tag. I would be suspicious of a Trim tag replacement.

the car has a vinyl top on it that i know is incorrect. why if the tag is faked would't they fake the top too? the car also has the gauge pkg, tilt wheel, wood wheel. is there any codes for these options?

It was on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=591745719

Only a single photo there. I'd be interested in seeing the tag and the engine assembly codes. As well as photos of the engine compartment.

No codes for the tilt wheel, gauges, or wood wheel.

OOPS, your right, I was looking at a dealer price sheet from 68 that indicated A/C not available on L78 only. I guess the 396 was added to the 67 line so late in the year they didn't have time to work up the A/C parts for 67.

I wasn't sure about the 3SLK trim code, do no RS models show the K?

I would love to see a close-up of the rivets on that tag. If it is a fake, at least give the offender credit for knowing to put the "E" out in front for tinted glass.

Flatt67,
You don't have to have the tinted glass to have air.

Mark C,
I don't know where your info is comming from, but you don't have to have all the windows tinted. I have a 67 with air and only the windshield is tinted. The car is all original.
