Kevin Imh Mar 11th, 01, 05:19 PM I just bought a 67 RS and it's missing almost everything. I decoded the numbers the best I could and came up with a lot of stuff. My question is...will you help decode the numbers so I can compare it with what I got?

67ss350camaro Mar 12th, 01, 02:55 AM Kevin,
Ed was close but not quite right. This is what I came up with:
1 = Chevrolet
2 = Camaro
4 = 8-cylinder engine
37 = coupe body
7 = 1967 model year
L = Los Angeles, CA assembly plant (Van Nuys)
Decode for body number: 017457
03A = Built the First week of March.
67-12637 = Custom Interior Coupe.
LOS = Built in Van Nuys California.
765 = Custom Black Bucket Seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats.
Y-2 = Base Color is Butternut Yellow and the Vinyl Top Color is Black.
F513 = Work order code.
Options:
1W = (A02) Tinted W/S only
2E = (C60) Air Conditioner
2L = (M20 or M21) 4-speed floor shifter
2G = (D55) Console front compartment
2S = (U73) Antenna Manual right rear
2R = (U80) Speaker rear
3L = (Z22) Rally Sport Pakage
The trim tag does not denote a V8 or 6. Only the vin does that. He was almost right about the 5 in ST 67-12537, but it should be a 6 to match with the 765-Z custom seats.

HawaiianCamaro Mar 12th, 01, 01:07 PM ??? you got me confused if its a 67 isnt 03A Mar 66 not 67 I have a 68 RS with a 09C date code that I thought was Sep (3rd WK) 1967
DjD Mar 12th, 01, 01:39 PM 67SS you could have save yourself a whole lot of typing and just included your last sentence. http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif
Hawaiian not sure the '67 would have been in production as early as mar of '66. Your 09C car should be somewhere among the earlier of the '67 camaros and 03A (mar '67) would be mid year production. I don't know the exact first and last weeks though!

March 67 is correct. the model year goes from Sept. to Aug. for selling cars and they start making them in Aug. and run untill July. So the 67 model year would have been made from Aug 66 to July 67. Kind of like a school year.

Like I said I'm new at this so bare with me http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif. I was wrong with one of the numbers, the 5, it is a 6. Excuse my mistake http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif. Your info was very helpfull and was very close to what I got. The car is not muck to look at but is nice. Thanks again.
p.s. I'll probably be bugging you later as I progress on my project. It's also my first project ever, so that makes it hard on me. I'm looking forward to the fun.

you're right Ed was a little off, but so was I. The 5 is actually a 6, sorry for the confusing. I appreciate your time in helping me. Your info, just like Ed's, was what I got. What do you mean when you say the trim tag doesn't denote a V8 or 6 cylinder? The VIN says that the car is a V8. Thanks again http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif.
P.S. Do you think that this car would be worth-while to restore to original or just go with what I want?

The weather is nice there. I lived in Hawaii for 3 years, but I wouldn't sacrifise the none salty air to live there when my 67 RS is complete.
Ed Ernst Mar 12th, 01, 08:03 PM Thanks for the assist Daniel. I'm brushing up on my 67 stats right now.
67ss350camaro Mar 13th, 01, 03:15 AM DjD,
I didn't have to type all of my first post here. I have a program that spits out what I posted here given the trim and vin info. So all I had to do was cut and paste! I like to use the program also http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
Ed,
No problem with the help. You might want to check out www.camaros.org (http://www.camaros.org) That is where I get my info.
