I have the Dealers Specifications book that I had someone make for me with every setting and size that the car comes with. It is a 1989 IROC-Z, there are 10 codes that I cannot trace and 2 engine codes (both 350 - 5.7). The problem codes are:
E72 1PC U29 VAN VQ1 1AY 1SD 157 159 810
Engine Codes:
B2L L98 (Why are there two?)

The following info comes right from a GM Production Options code book published by GM Service Parts Operations.

Unknown means it is not listed in the code book and thus may never know what it it. Proboably some component unique to a specific model and not common on others.

E72=Body equipment, increased length (18inches) Don't IROC have different front nose?
1PC=Unknown
U29=Lamp, interior, instrument panel, courtesy
VAN=Unknown
VQ1=Unknown
1AY=Unknown
1SD=Marketing option package-varies by model and year but something like 'buy all these options and get this option included at no extra charge or save x amount of $$ or something they dreamed up to sell a certain package of options' My 2001 GMC ext cab 4WD truck has this listed.
157=Trim combination color color=unknown but 156 and 158 are a slate gray leather
159=Seat belt color-meduim slate gray
810=?? found a 81Q referring to molding color-bright red

B2L=Not engine related B2L falls in the group refering to interior ornamentation
L98=V8 5.7L 350cid TBI (throttle body injection)

I have an '89 RS convert and did a listing similar to yours. There are 7 I can't determine.

I believe VAN means the Van Nuys plant; VQ1 is a fleet order code.

I found build sheets attached to the bottoms of the front seat cushions.
