Could the block be cast May 22, 1968 for a September 13, 1968 build? I don't doubt it, just curious. If there were roughly 200,000 1969's built and 10% were Z's then there were already 1238 Z's built by the time this car came off the line. One would think that the old engines would have been used up by September. :confused:

Yup, it's way early. Esp for a 69 block casting! I've seen one or two early ones like this where they sat for a while before getting machined. And if you restamped it, why add a partial VIN on the pad?
Possible, but I'd look closely at it.

Maybe it's a G-22-8 cast date and he can't make it out properly.
