I was just playing around with the SS, thought I'd decode the cowl tag, and realized it came with a 3 speed manual. I thought that kind of odd for a big block car. Heres the cowl,
O4A B527
67-12437 LOS-29757
760-Z C-C
E 2B
4N
Looks like all this car had was all tinted glass, a 325 H.P. 396 with a 3 speed. Why a 3 speed saginaw? Did that have to be specially ordered? It had a 3 speed in it when I got it. I thought, great, someone ripped off the 4 speed and stuck this turd in it. I pulled it out & stuck in a muncie. I'm glad I saved it now. I'll be digging it up out of the shop to check the numbers on it now. Glad I kept it. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

The standard trans for all cars ('cept Z's) was the 3 speed. Actually, that 3 speed was an option! 2B is for M11, the floor shifter. If they didn't order that, it would have been a column shift car!!

We have 2 other 67 L35 cars with 3 speeds. The HD 3 speed was $75, the floor shift was $10. The 4 speed was $175.

Could have been dealer ordered.
I'd be interested in the other #'s off the car when you get a chance....... http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

when i was looking for a 69 about a year age a guy had a red ss 396 near indy. he sent me pics and list of options. it had a 3-speed which i thought was sort of strange, but after the research it turns out they are the stand trans. sent a "friend of a friend of a friend" to look at it while they were at the brickyard 500 to see if it would be worth the long trip for me. he got the directions and forgot them at the pay phone. (these guys might of had a few too many beers by then). i would like to know what happened to the car if anybody knows anything about it. it was a red/black hockey stick and vinyl top car that had originally been gold. sold in Aug. last year out of Indianapolis. had a 3-speed man. tans, delx. black interior, factory am/fm stereo.

I'd be interested if anyone has more info on that 69 BB near Indy. It had a window sticker. The guy said he'd get me a copy but never did.
Never seen a window sticker for a BB 3speed car.

I seeeeee. Well, at least they spent the $10 for a floor shift. http://www.camaros.net/forum/rolleyes.gif I guess I should feel lucky it has the L35. This poor car was tore up pretty bad when I got it. It does have disc though. I paid $200 for it, but the subframe was bent, interior pretty much gone, 1 396 flag hanging on the fender and the hood louvers glued on with the blue goo. I don't think I got hurt on the deal though. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif I got the car running & half way presentable, but it needs the frame-up. I think I'll make this one look like a sleeper. http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif
