How common is this on a 68 Camaro 350 0r other motor? #3914678 Casting date K 21 7 Build date
VII29MS. Super low mile original components. Original rods and pistons, virtually no ridge wear on cylinder walls. Original large journal forged crank which still has factory paint marks(spots) on it. No VIN on front pad or by oil filter. Thanks. Todd

This is not common on an SS, but very common on base engines.

You didn't say on if it was an LA or NOR car, but for 68's, that's unusual.

Are you looking in the correct place by the filter. It located on the rough casting vertical flange, not a machined surface.

Someone told me they could not find it on their engine but I was able to find it right away. They did not know what to look for, it was covered over with paint and dirt.

elcamino,
I believe the location you are talking about is only for 69 and up.
