Ok...
I am trying to decode my COWL tag. I am pretty sure I have it right. Could someone please read over and double-check and maybe tell me what the "37A" is for?

ST69 12437 NOR362901BDY
TR715 51 51 PNT
37A X44

ST69 12437 = STYLE,69,CHEVROLET,CAMARO,V-8,HARDTOP
NOR362901BDY = NORWOOD,#162901 CAMARO BUILT IN 1969
TR715 = BLUE INTERIOR
51 51 PNT = DUSK BLUE EXTERIOR
37A = ? I am pretty sure it says 37A, it isn't in the greatest condition, though.
X44 = Base Car

The car has a SS hood, rear-fender louvers, chrome molding on the grille and headlight bezels, front power disc brakes and power steering. I am assuming that all except the brakes and P.S. were added on at some point. Is there any other codes somewhere to find this out?
I believe the engine and transmission are not original. I have not been able to find the engine or tranny casting numbers yet.
Also, I can't find the 10-bolt rear axle code. I don't see any letters/numbers on the left or right side of the axle. Would this be anywhere else?

Thanks...

I'll bet that 37A is 07A which would translate to 1st week of July build date.

You may have to take a drill and wire wheel to your axle tube to find the letters. They should be on the forward facing side of the tube on the right rear (pass) side. maybe somewhere in the center. Also, it most likely isnt a SS because of the 10 bolt rear.

This isn't correct. This number (on the trim tag) is just a sequential in-house build number. It really doesn't tell you much.

If you look at your VIN, take the number after the N and subtract 500000 from it (Norwood began at 500001 in 1969). As an example...if your VIN was 124379N623423, you would have the 123,423 car built at Norwood during the 1969 production run.

The X44 on the tag indicates this is a plain jane car. All the chrome trim has been added.

Not completely true. It tells you its a coupe, but all 68-9 trim tags are 124_7. Didn't matter if it was a L6 or a V8.

You are correct. X44 is a base car. Not a Z or SS. You should not have a fuel return line. Are those multileaf springs?

Jonesy is right. Some type of wire brush is the way to go to find the axle code.

Could you post your VIN?

Thanks!
