I own a 1969 Camaro, I have been able to decipher the following information from the vin plate
Body #.........Norwood, Ohio
Trim...........(711) Black Vinyl
Style #........(12437) 2dr sport coupe, 8cyl.
Sequence #.... 362446
Paint code.....(59) Frost Green
Manufactured....(06A) First week of June
Please help me what is a X44 code, the Camaro has the automatis shifter on the column, with a black vinly top. Is this rare?

Aloha and welcome to the Team Camaro Family.

decode for body number: 362446

06A = Built the First week of June.
69-12437 = Coupe.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
711 = Standard Black Bucket Seats.
59-59 = Car Color is Frost Green
X44 = non-SS, non-Z28, without style trim

Whats the VIN from the car? The VIN will tell you if it was a 8 cylinder car where the trim tag will only tell you if it was a coupe or a convt.

Also if the car has a black V/top it should have a B after the 59 for paint if not it whould show 2 59's for Grost green paint top and bottom.

VIN plate located drivers side dash near the windshield and can be viewed from outside the car. Trin or cowl tag is the one of the firewall.

The info for the above camaro is as follows:
--------------------------------
ST69 12437 NOR362446BDY

TP 711 59 B PNT

06A X44
--------------------------------
The Vin is: 124379N664258

The car has a 8cyl 350 engine, automatic with the automatic shifter on the steering column.

IS THE AUTOMATIC SHIFTER ON THE STEERING COLUMN RARE? and is this vehicle a COPO, YENKO etc......Thanks

the X codes were just a body builing code for gm. the 44X code you have is the plainjane no bells or whistles on the exterior. the only thing rare about the colum shifter is that there is still a camaro out there that has the original one in yet, everyone tears it out for the floor model. check out http://www.camaros.org/engine.shtml this will show you more on the Xcodes
