A coworker of mine just picked up a 68 Convertible. I was hoping I could get some info on it. It looks as though it has the original matching #'s 327. It has camel hump heads and a power glide. Is there a way to determine what options the car originally came with? Except for the paint it looks pretty original... Although looks can be deceiving.
you can see a pic here: http://www.carrollstauto.com/site/Inventory/chevy/68_chevy_camaro_conv_red/68_chevy_camaro_conv_red.htm

Greg:
No way to tell most options by Tag numbers on a 68.
Just a guess - but a standard interior, standard convertible with a 327/Powerglide would not seem to be the precurser of a highly optioned car. Expect to find such things as PS, PB, AM radio and maybe Power Top and others to indicate a nicely optioned car.
Things like Higher output V-8's, Power Windows, Disc.s with other power and Appearance options are usually (read this carefully) found on 'higher optioned' cars that would have Custom Interior and other upscale options, such as the RS package. These things added up in a hurry on a lower optioned car and could quickly put it into the RS/base V-8 range.
This is a 'raving generalities' statement so don't be surprized if the car has an option or two that happened to catch the buyers eye while going down the long options list.
Go to CRG site and read through info to check for option clues. You can sometimes tell if it's an original option just by it's installation and condition - but not always.
Something is wrong with the State-of-Tune or application code numbers following the assembly plant and date on the engine code numbers you've given.
Please recheck and post all numbers/letters in the code. There are no "B" engine codes in 1968.
The partial VIN seems to match the car - but, I've restamped and have seen many restamps in replaced engines.
The car would look very nice back in it's original Butternut/Black Interior and top graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Hope this helps.

Your engine was built in Flint, on July 3. The V0703 should be followed by a 2 letter code, and none of them start with B... except for a 6 cyl...
What's the block casting #? It's on the rear of the drivers side, behind the head. You can see it if u look through the gep between the open hood and the body.
Is your vin missing a digit? should be 6 digits, starting with 300,000 for a norwood car.
