I have tried to figure out this 69 Camaro I have which I took in trade.

The tag reads ST69 12467 NOR 282 848
712 72
03B X11

It is orange with black convertible. Hide away lights. Has ss emblem. Has back-up lights. Engine code is MB 20353

Any info appreciated. Thank you.

ST69=1969
12467=Camaro Convertible
NOR=Norwood Ohio Assembly
282848=Body unit number
712=Black Bucket Seats
72=Hugger Orange
03B=Body Build date March 2nd week
X11=Could be anything with the Z21 (or Z22) trim group, except a Z28 or big block. From a 6-cyl to a SS350, although COPO cars where sometimes built from bodies with the X11 code.

The engine code you have where did you find it?

Can't tell if it's an SS from the trim tag.

The block #'s aren't the right format. They should be V0228HA. Could you recheck them?

The car have disc brakes? 12 bolt? There are some other things to check also.
Could you also post the VIN?

Another thing to look for is a fuel return line. If it is, indeed, an SS, it should have a return line (350ci/300HP all had Rochester Q-Jet (or Carter AFB) which use a fuel return line). The only exception to that would be a 396ci/375hp....

The problem with the fuel return line is that it was also used on the LM1 (255 hp) cars too. It is *very* difficult to tell a LM1 and an SS350 car apart. With the right options (disc brakes, stripe, dual exhaust) they would be identical except for the hood and the wheel/tire size.
