I recently baught a 69 camaro and it has all the z28 emblams and everything and looks like a z28, but i need to find out if it is a real z28 or not. It doesnt have a motor so all i have is the vin number which is 124379L503701. So if any of you could assist me on this it would be most apreciated.

But the car is stored at the place of where i baught it right now and i will be going this weekend sometime to get it and i will look for these numbers and post them ASAP. So if you could be patient and help me out it would be most apreciated and i do want to thank you for helping me out.

1 = Chevrolet
2 = Camaro
4 = 8-cylinder engine
37 = coupe body
9 = 1969 model year
L = Los Angeles, CA assembly plant (Van Nuys)
503701 = vehicle serial number sequence

Get the cowl tag info and start looking for a build sheet in the car (seat springs/front or rear and under the dash wadded up. Could also be one on top of the gas tank. If you find one with the cars VIN and it shows the Z option, all you have to do is locate the 302. Is there a owners protection plan book with the Metal POP in the back of it? This also would show the VIN and the Engine code which for a 69 Z would be coded DZ.

Cowl tag on a Van Nuys car will tell you build date, interior style and color, and exterior color. That's about all.

Without the original motor, (or the POP, as Jeff suggested)you will have to become somewhat of a sluth to determine if it is a real Z.

Do a search, this topic has been discussed at length, in the past.

711 7272 PNT

and the vin number is:
124379L503701
so if anyone can find any info for me or if anyone knows about this please post. Once again i want to thank all of you for helping me, you are a savior.

Still have to find the buildmonth before the DZ code and the partial VIN on the engine. Should be next to the DZ code on the same pad.

1 = Chevrolet
2 = Camaro
4 = 8-cylinder engine
37 = coupe body
9 = 1969 model year
L = Los Angeles, CA assembly plant (Van Nuys)
503701 = vehicle serial number sequence

Decode for body number: 131615

10B = Built the Second week of October.
69-12437 = Coupe.
LOS = Built in Van Nuys California.
711 = Standard Black Bucket Seats.
72-72 = Car Color is Hugger Orange
11073 = internal plant scheduling code.
double check this info, is it J1073???

Pull the tank down and check for a build sheet

sorry yes that number is J1073 not 11073. I will have to go back up there and check out those other numbers you stated to get. Even if it isnt a z28 it sure does look like one and i only paid $1400 for it. it doesnt have an engine and the body and enterior is perfect and has been stored in the guys barn i baught it from for 10 years. So even if its not an original, i think its still a good buy.

Actually, I'll bet you its H073. Any takers? :D
J1073 is not a valid Van Nuys code.
