Does anyone have info on if or when the engine vin. no. location was moved from the front pad to the transmission flange. I am mainly interested in the big block 69 Camaros built at the Norwood Ohio assy plant. Was the location changed by a certain vin. no. or by a date? Or was this vin. location change only done by some assy plants and not by all assy plants? thank you

Here is some information obtained from the book "The Definitive 1969 Camaro Z/28-22396 Fact Book". Sometime in January 1969 the Norwood plant moved the Engine Block Code stamp down near the oil filter. Prior to that the alternator had to be removed in order to add the stamp. The Los Angeles assembly plant switched over sometime in April 1969. My 69 was built at Norwood in July 1969 and definitely has this stamp down under.

Funny, I have a '69 L78 block assembled on 1-6-69 and the VIN was on the rear flange...
