I finally have brought my 68 convert out to be restored. I have owned it since 95 and have total owner history of this vehicle. This car has 32,346 original miles on it, but was wrecked in 1973 by the 2nd owner. It has sat unaltered since that time. I have owned many 68's but this is my first conv 68. My problem is with the trim tag. It is original and not been altered or tampered with but the data is different from all other 68's that I have owned. I hope that the link I am providing will work. All the information on the tag against what GM said you could have. The car was originally a dealer showroom car from Billings Montana, heavily optioned and still very original when I got it. Even the wording of the tag is not like others. I have owned early Sept. 67, mid year production and late production cars and this tag is different yet very original for the car. Any insight that you can provide would be great. Thanks

Any chance for a digital pic of the tag. I have heard of this wording before and I want to say its a very early car and might have been a factory car. Whats the VIN on the car?

I don't have the picture capability at this time, my camera moved 100 miles away. The vin on the car is 124678n330846. Thanks

Its an early car but not as early as I thought it would be. I was thinking more in the first 75 cars built. Ill see where I saw reference to that same wording and see what i can find out

That's a 1959 through 1964 style Trim Tag!!!

This is really bizarre!!

JohnZ, what's your educated opinion??? Perhaps this is one of those Phillipino cars!!!

Thanks for the great responce guys, the link that you showed was right on the money for the trim tag design, so I went out and looked in the garage again this morning. I was expecting to find a 4th design as per the pictures but it is a 2nd design, no corner notches. I do appreciate the hard work everyone is putting into this. The car spent its entire life in Montana and in Washington state. I am the fifth owner. It was wrecked by the second owner and sat inbetween the rest. My wife was not happy when I bought it, front smashed, crushed windshield frame and top, lots of rust and full of chicken feathers and broken eggs. It was too rare to let die.

What drivetrain was originally in the car? Any paperwork?

Kurt; the drivetrain and option list constisted of a standard bore (it still is) MW code 350hp 396 with a M21 and 3.55 Posi 12 bolt, power disc brakes, rallysport, tilt, sport wheel, tach and guages, am/fm multiplex, tinted windows, power top, guards f&r, power steering, space saver, tri volumn horn, speed warning, fold down seat, rally wheels, aux. lighting, ext trim group and the last one which throws me for a loop is houndstooth deluxe int. I thought that you couldn't have it in a convert, but this car shows that you can. The car came with all paperwork except window sticker. Thanks again for any input.
