After that they were blue with white writing. A "California Black Plate" car signifies that the car has the license plates that were originally issued with the car. This "COULD" indicate that the car is being offered by the original owner but not necessarily. Even several owners down the line could still be using the original black plates. The first 68 Camaro I bought back in 1976 still had the black plates (WJM-326 as a matter of fact!!), even though I was the third owner. Ed DBUCHH Sep 6th, 02, 05:32 AM thanks. bertfam Sep 6th, 02, 05:50 AM I forgot one thing that the others may gig me on!!! Up until the late 50's, California license plates were black with YELLOW writing. Then they went to black with WHITE writing until the early 70's. I only refered to the "white" writing in my last post, as I was assuming you were looking at a First Generation Camaro, which would be black with white writing. The colors were the same as the 50's plates but the style changed. Scott. bertfam Sep 6th, 02, 08:09 AM Scott, Thanks for the correction. I can never remember the stupid "letter" colors...
