the rear in my z28 has a axle # starting with BV which i think denotes 410 gears could this be the original rear? the date code on the rear is 12-17-68 and the body is 2-69 which sounds about right, but i know the z came with 373 gearing. i thought i knew the history of my car but ????

z/28's came standard with the 3.73's. you could get the 4.10's as an option.

Your right, BV decodes a 4.10 posi. Mike is right, the 4.10 gear ratio was optional.
