View Full Version : 67 Pace car
Aussiecamaro Dec 20th, 04, 05:39 PM Am going to look at a 67 pace car. I was wondering
at what are the important things to look out for that makes the 67 a pace car and not a look alike !
thanks in advance
67CruiseMasterCamaro Dec 20th, 04, 07:53 PM Aussie, do you have a website where this car is, so we know which one it might be? Or know who is selling it?
Scot
Aussiecamaro Dec 21st, 04, 01:25 AM Scot,
Car is currently not advertised, I found out about it through a friend.
This friday i intend to fly interstate where it is and have a look. Unfortunately the owner is a woman and doesn't know anyhing about it except that it is a 67 pace car.
thanks
drdave69 Dec 21st, 04, 02:57 AM Here is a lot of good info although it is a little old. This should get you started.
http://www.holisticpage.com/camaro/camaros_fs.htm
click Dec 21st, 04, 04:59 AM It wont hurt to read alot of stuff at Camaros . Org site (http://www.camaros.org) and take notes to go with you.
Let us know what you find.
My sister used to live in Perth but never saw a camaro down there in the 70's
HawaiianCamaro Dec 21st, 04, 05:37 AM Might also try getting all the info and then ask clill questions about your find since he has the Track car from the race i believe.
Flatt67 Dec 21st, 04, 12:12 PM To cut to the chase, if it doesnt have a dash after the 4th option group, it is not a pace car.
Aussiecamaro Dec 22nd, 04, 12:20 PM I now have more info on the car.
Yes it does have a dash on the 4th option 4P-
(Norwood car)
and the paint code is C-1 with trim 732-Z
Is the O-1 worth more than a C-1 ?
The car needs a total resto and the asking price is $32k AUD
What would a restored one in th US be worth?
36j1967 Dec 22nd, 04, 01:26 PM Very interesting! We still need some more details before we can make a call on this. Please post all the information from the cowl tag. The O-1 festival car is of course the most valueable with between 80 and 103 units produced for track use depending on what incomplete information you choose to follow. The C-1 replica cars are still very valueable in themselves with far fewer produced than the 69. An ongoing thread can be found on a O-1 car at camaros.org that will give you an idea of the value of a pacer that needs work. Does this car have anything in group five?

Pacecarjeff Dec 22nd, 04, 05:16 PM Norwood cars are easy - get the info off the trim tag.
With that and the VIN# it should be pretty easy to tell if it is a real Pace car replica.
Here are some mandatory Norwood items:
SS and RS equipment with blue nose stripe.
Right side traction bar on single leaf spring.
All track pacers were built between: 03C-04D.
TR 732-Z with a "R" to the far right of the interior color.
12667 = is bright blue deluxe interior.
This info is taken from: The official Chevrolet Indy Pace Car Book, writen by Donna Crispino
This is just some of the items to look for.
Mark C Dec 23rd, 04, 02:14 AM It should be noted that the 10 06C small block "Canadian" Pace cars are not SS's. They were RS's equipped with 327/210HP LF7 engines, and only carry RS trim.
Aussiecamaro Dec 23rd, 04, 12:09 PM Ok trim tag reads as follows
04B R
67-12667 NOR 108361
732-Z C-1
W 2EMGS 3SL
4P-
I don't have the vin no at this stage, its taken quite a while just to get all details of the trim tag
36j1967 Dec 23rd, 04, 02:36 PM Good morning mate! Looks like a 67 pace car replica trim tag you have there. The E in group 2 (C60 air conditioning) is rare for a pacer built at NOR but most options available at the time would be possible on a replica. You will need to post a picture of the trim tag to double check its authenticity. The build date 04B and body number 108361 are graemlins/thumbsup.gif . The dash indicates special paint. It is missing the group 5Y deluxe belts? The dash - normally is seen following that group but others on the board may have an acception to the rule. Next step will be to document the drivetrain and ask about any supporting paperwork. If it is a good buy dont let grass grow under your feet, "get er done".

Flatt67 Dec 28th, 04, 04:44 PM WOW - this would be the first Norwood air conditioned pace car found, right??
67ss350camaro Dec 30th, 04, 09:44 AM First A/C NOR pace car that I know of.
Aussie Dec 31st, 04, 12:50 AM Aussiecamaro

I'm keen to know how he went, know of a couple of 69 Pace Cars here, but this is the 1st 67 Pace Car I've heard of down here.
36j1967 Jan 1st, 05, 02:34 PM Sorry, you all look the same to me. ;)
Mark C Jan 1st, 05, 03:47 PM What kind of 69's? Alledgedly the one given to Mario Andretti for winning the race is in Australia somewhere. Can't be that many of them could there?
twobytwo Jan 18th, 05, 08:09 PM Paging Aussiecamaro.... Any luck on the VIN of the 67 pacecar?
ChevyThunder Jan 19th, 05, 08:01 AM Here is an interesting 67 Pace Car

67CruiseMasterCamaro Jan 19th, 05, 08:27 AM Chevythunder, Mark, this trim tag looks funny to me. Can you tell me real or not please?
Flatt67 Jan 19th, 05, 01:08 PM As a former owner of the car, I can tell you the sellers desciption is nuts. There are too many incorrect statements and inaccuacies to even list. I hope the prospective buyer has more sense than money.
Mark C Jan 19th, 05, 01:35 PM AJ foyts car was built in June this is a mid April car so at least that part of the story is BS.
Mark C Jan 19th, 05, 02:31 PM Heres one for you. 100 percent real.

19HoosierDaddies67 Jan 23rd, 05, 06:49 PM I was under the impression that you could not get spoilers in 67....Is this right?
al8apexer Jan 23rd, 05, 08:51 PM did that car used to belong to Mike Marsh of San Francisco, GF Automotive?
I know he had a BB 4 speed 67
