List 4053 is a 69 Z/28 carb, all right. Probably worth $100-150 unrebuilt. More if someone needs your date code.

Unreal wouldnt the 813 date code be 3 week Jan. 68? In that case it would be for a 68 model wouldnt it? Kevin

cool!
if you knew how many times I started to throw that thing in a car going to scrap yard!
good thing Iam a junk collector.
if I were to rebuilt it should I glass bead it to clean it up.
it does have these odd holes drilled in the back side of the airhorn 2 about 1/2" not sure if this is stock or a mod.
boy do I miss my digital camara!

Right you are about the date. That's a 68 carb. The DZ does not relate to the DZ motor. Part #3923289DZ List 4053 is for all 68 standard transmission Z/28, L72, L78, L89, (except Corvette) and 69Z/28. The m/t L72, L78, L89 for 69 was List 4346, which is essentially the 4053, with a vented bowl.

Glass beading is a no-no on carbs.
Umm, those holes don't sound good.....

well!,
I blew the cob webs off and it is missing some stuff....the foot that pushes the pump down, the skirter, bowl vent screws,
rather than try to find these parts I'll probably just drop it on ebay that way the buyer can determen what it worth,I don't want to ask to much but don't want give away eirther.
do you guys think a starting bit of 50.00 is to high with noreserve.
thanks!

Sounds like a fair starting point. Be sure and include the date code, as that will help if someone needs that date.

Hey 'Fast';
If those holes in the rear air horn area are near the bottom and on either side of the air cleaner stud boss then I think I have an answer to them.
There was a 'kit' to convert these earlier carbs to "double pumpers" by drilling the holes and using a special nozzle assembly that squirted fuel into the primary and the secondary sides of the carb. It came with a higher capacity pump (they called them 'REO' style - they were just truck parts) and a screw assembly that you put in the secondary linkage to make them mechanical v.s. vacuum.
The whole kit sucked big time - massive bog problems and no fuel mileage. graemlins/clonk.gif
Old school wasn't always good school!
Hope you get rich on E-bay! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

well, I just went out and spent 600.00 for digital camara only so I could take some pic's of this carb ;) (do you think the wife will buy that!)it'll take a day or two to figure this new thing out though.
