I picked up this master cylinder today because it looks just like my original on my 69 Z. It has the double bail cap and bleeder fittings. Question is, it has a different casting number and stamp than my Z.
Casting # 5460346 with a "PG" stamp.
In comparison the cylinder on my 69 Z is:
Casting # 5468309 with a "US" stamp.
Anybody know what this fits?

Not sure about the master cylinder "PG". But, if you find another "US" master let me know, I need one. Also, I checked your car site and the car looks great! I just pulled the engine/trans out on Thursday and the subframe today. It's great to see some other Hugger Orange cars to keep me motivated. Now if I only had some money...

Will do Jeff on the master cylinder. Believe it or not my car had its motor, trans, and front clip off this time last year. I then pulled the subframe realizing that sand blasting it was the only way I was going to get it as clean as I wanted. It was no big deal really, but just depressing to see my car so ripped apart. Anyway, it was worth it as I'm happy with the end result. You ever going to put some pics of your cross ram up? Sounds like a sweet ride.

X77D80 - I couldn't find either of those numbers in my "Parts Interchange Manual". It covers 1959 - 1970 Camaro, Chevelle, Nova/Cheyy II and Impala.

For a '69 Disc Camaro it shows, Moraine 5463751 (stamped US). If I get the chance I will check the numbers on mine. Maybe we can throw some more numbers in the pot!!!

After trying to verify many other parts I am begining to believe this book is not definitive and not the most accurate! Not sure it's the author and the research done to put it together or Chevrolet not being consistant in the parts they use and records they kept. (we all know about chevrolet's excelent documentation in the 60's)

See ya,

Could that stamp possibly be RG?

I found that one in the interchange but thats for a 71-72 Cad. El Dorado.

The casting # is close to the 67-68 Camaro disc brake master so it's probably something very close. X77D80, I plan on putting together a page of my restoration as it progresses. It will be a while before the car will be driven. My budget is real tight so it will take time to save the money for the work that I can't do. I'll be posting a lot of questions looking for help and suggestions.

Went out and double checked the stamp. It's definately "PG". I'm "assuming" it's earlier than 1969 cause the casting number is earlier . Thank you all for checking it out. Jeff, can't wait to see them pics!

X77D80,

Master cylinder casting 5460346 with a "PG" broadcast code was used on 1968-1971 Corvettes when equipped with the J-50 power brake option.

It may also have been used in Corvette power brake applications in 1967 as well, but I would have to check my records to make certain.

Hope that this helps.

Regards,

Stan Falenski
