Does anyone know of any REPUTABLE places that would rebuild date code #'s matching waterpumps and alternators?

Don't know about the waterpump but whats wrong with the alternator. Will it not charge the battery? I have only seen two things go wrong with alternators. The bearing goes and makes noise or the brushes wear out and it won't charge the battery. The bearing and brushes are available at the local parts store and are a cinch to install. No reason to pay someone else to rebuild it. Unless its totally fried and smelling burnt not much else goes. The diodes could go but 90 percent of the time its the brushes or bearing

Actually,I'm not certain.I had NAPA test it and they said it was dead.I do know that the terminal that the power attaches to is just spinning, like it is not attached inside. It may be more than this, but I don't know.Just from spinning it though the bearings seem fine-smooth,and no play in them.

I sent my water pump to Arthur Gould, 6 Delores Ln., Fort Salonga, New York, 516-754-5010. They advertise in Hemmings, cost w/shipping was $76.00. I had no problems, and the service was quick.
I would send my alternator to Masters City Classic Parts (John Pirkle) 306 Merion Dr., Augusta, Georgia, 06-860-9047. They do a lot of restoration rebuilds and have a good supply of already restored alternators & starters in specific #'s and date codes. I haven't had them rebuild anything for me yet, but I did buy a correct starter from them.
