Berger Chevy is dealership in Grand Rapids Mich.Back in the heydays of the late 60's they sold copo cars just like nickey, motion, yenko, ect.Berger however did not put any special paint or stipe pkg on them.I used to live in G.R. back then and remember seeing them on the lot. These cars are more rare than the others because Berger didn't have as many as the other dealers. These cars are starting to become more and more sought after.

The COPO cars refers to cars that were built by use of a special process called a Central Office Production Order. This process is used to buy fleet cars (like a taxi) or trucks (like a phone company truck). Some High Performance Dealers used the COPO process to sneak High Performance cars through the factory that Chevy top managers had a ban on because they exceeded a 10 lbs per cu. in. limit. Some Hi Per people at Chevy wanted to build 427 Camaros to race in NHRA agaist the 428 CJ Mustang so they worked with the dealers that wanted them. Yenko Chevrolet gets alot of credit for pushing the 427 Camaros and Chevelles and Fred Gibb pushed for the ZL1 Camaro. The factory had to build at least 50 to make it legal to race in NHRA. Yenko sold 198 Yenko/COPO Camaros and 99 Yenko/COPO Chevelles and Berger sold 50 COPO Camaros and 10 COPO Chevelles. Other dealers sold them also. The COPO cars used the L72 427/425 Impala motor with a special code, a rear with a special code and trans with a special code if it was equiped with a TH400.
