I have run across a 1969 X-33 Convertible. I cannot find records of this combination or other options available that are similar. It appears to still have the original paint (red), 12 bolt rear, front discs, muncie 4spd, original black deluxe style interior intact (console with gauges, and factory tach in the dash as well). It has remote mirrors and other similar options. It currently has a big block of some sort in it. It was last licensed in the late 70's. I plan to sell it but need to learn a little more about it before I do so. It does have some paper work in the glove box (owners manual and other stuff)
Any feed back of other items to check would help verify this car. I won't be able to check any more on the car until this weekend.
Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
I think I remember a story/rumor about one being built for one of the Chevrolet higher ups. Check the paperwork that is with the owners manual and look for the POP (protect-o-plate) It will have all the info. you would need to verify the DZ engine and it being a convertible. If you can find that, post it here and also post the cowl tag #'s and the VIN on the dash and the guys here can let you know just what you have. With the VIN, build date etc. it can be determined if the cowl tag is original to the car. If it is an original Z/28 convertible, congratulations, your rich!!!

The only ragtop Z/28 was a 1968 model built for Pete Estes who only drove convertibles. Pete was the guy that could have shut down production of the Z/28 and by giving him the one 1st gen Z ragtop ever built it set production in motion for more Z production. Or so the story goes.. The '68 is in good hands, it's dark green and a few pic's have surfaced here. Jeff the moderator of this forum has some first hand info on it if I recall.

There's nothing that I can recall ever coming up on this site or the CRG www.camaros.org (http://www.camaros.org) that even hints of any other 1st gen convertible. Post all the info you have, vin numbers, Cowl tag and as many other options and the guys here will help you learn what you have...

Mr Estes's 68 British Racing Green Z/Convt is the one and only 1st Gen Z/28 to be made as a Convt. Also it had a proto-type Fiberglas cross ram cowl induction hood, making it the only 68 Camaro to come from the factory as sucjh. A neat car and like DjD stated its in very good hands in MI. Have to seel some property here to get my hands on that baby, if some fella out in the desert doesnt get to it first. graemlins/beers.gif

Just out of curiosity, it the cowl tag 12437 or 12467. That would give you a hint as to whether someone had a counterfeit cowl tag made up, or if they just took a cowl tag from a Z and riveted it onto a convertible.

I'm not knocking your car, it may be very nice, but I don't think you hit the lottery.
