I'm looking at a 70 SS 396 4 speed. it's a non macthing# car the motor was blown back in 79 and a factory long block was put in. It does have the 375 horse aluminum manafold. and a holley carb.Is there anything I can look for to prove it's a true SS 396 car? The vin# is 124870L516427;
I don't have the trim tag info yet. any help would be greatly appreciated! Here's a link to the car.

I think the redline on a 70 Camaro L78 car would be 6500 just like the 70 L78 Chevelles.396/350 is 5500 redline I believe.Hope this helps. Dan

So did you buy it? The trim tag should have the Z27 and L78 on it to prove it's a real 375hp car. They only made around 600 Camaros with that engine in 70 so that's pretty rare. Car looks like it's in pretty decent shape.

I know of a nice 1970 Z28 for sale. Here's the link, all the way down to bottom of page. http://www.kmspower.com/shop_online/pricesheet.htm
I saw 2 Camaro's at this place. One was Silver and one was yellow, so I don't know which this is. I know the owner, used to live next door to me. Place is only 7 miles from me.

also look for single fuel line from tank, correct radiator, deep groove pulleys on crank, water pump and alternator

Since it's an LA car I'm not sure if it has the trim tag codes like the Norwood cars. Did you have him check for the Z27 and L78 on the trim tag? If it has L34 or LS3 then it's obviously not an original 375hp car.
