I have a NOS 12 bolt axle with the GM tag showing part # 3927508, and it is identical to other camaro 12 bolt axles EXCEPT that it has 1/2" wheel studs. They look original and the axle does not look like it has ever been modified, i got it from a friend who bought it about 20 years ago. I checked my GM parts book and came up with part #s 3969349 and a superceded #3859142. Anybody got any ideas what this axle is for? Maybe a factory race piece or HD part for a COPO or ?. Thanks in Advance.

What are the stamped codes on the axle tube? That may help identify it.

This part number is from a axle shaft only, not a complete housing.

How long do the studs measure from the portion sticking out through the flange? Also, is the flange beveled on the edge?

From the 1970 Heavy Duty Parts List:
3927508 - Shaft Assy, rear axle w/drum brakes.

Should bring BIG bucks on e-pay...

Thanks Ed, Also thanks to all who replied! I did not buy this axle to sell it on epay LOL, i wanted it for a spare for my 69 Z, in case i ever have a axle go south. Just trying to figure out why it has 1/2 studs, that will probably be a problem if i ever need to use it, hopefully i can find some 7/16 studs with the rite shoulder size to fit into this axle. Thanks Again.
