Can anyone help me on this one. I bought this car back in 1982 and have since done considerable restoration to bring it back to 90% original. The original engine is long gone. My question is, is it a real RS/SS. I question the SS status due to suttle hints of non-performance parts like disc brakes, etc..
As much information as you can detail would be helpful, since I am initiating a full blown pro-touring restoration.

Can't speak to the car itself, but the trim tag was punched for a RS/SS350. If it had been built later you would have had to research the possibility of it being a L30/M20, but this is too early to be anything but a RS/SS.
There is a code just above and to the right of the 2751 number that we'd like to see, and we'd also like to know the VIN to check the match.
Do you have the original drivetrain? If so there are numbers on those components that can be verified.
You can do most of the decoding yourself at http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml

I was in the same boat you are about decoding. I have a true RS/SS 67 350. The following site will give you some great insight into what we have. Don't sweat not have a radius traction bar if yours doesn't. They supposedly weren't put on until Dec. or Jan. 67. Hope this helps-http://www.camaro-untoldsecrets.com/articles/spotlite2.htm

Thanks to all you guys for all the input. From all the decoding I could find, it appears I'm a damn proud owner of 1967 Camaro RS/SS. Built Oct,3rd week,in LA, #2751. Custom Interior, parchment custom buckets Bolera Red paint. 4speed, center console, rear Antenna. RPOZ23 interior/RPO Z22 Rally Sport, with deluxe seatbelts. I'm not sure about the 4P code? I do have a 12 bolt posi w/radius rod. Does this mean its an L48? or L30/M20? Like I mentioned the original motor is gone!.
Also if this stuff interests you, It took me 13 years (too long) to do a ground up restoration on this beauty. She drips in a Vintage red 3 stage paint. Has all new crome and fresh interior. My dilema is I want to build a HOT ROD with my 16 year old. The current drive train has a lot to be desired. Top end on the freeway is about 95 MPH. To damn slow especially since I plan on racing this car (canyon carving on legal tracks of course) against Porches, Beamers and such. If the car was 100% stock w/ matching #'s I would'nt touch it. But its time to bring it up to date. Thanks again!! I'll post some pictures soon...

I answered the 4P question - read my note above again.
On the radius rod - your car is too early to have a factory radius rod. What is the dating on the axle, and what is the VIN from the door post plate?
