Hi there,

Great forum. I found a 1968 Camaro for sale but am unsure of how to decode the Trim Tag from the firewall and the VIN itself. I looked at the great resources here but got kinda lost. These numbers/characters were given to me over the phone so I hope I got it correct. For starters the "g" in 07g seemed wrong to me since the letter is supposed to corospond to the week of the month and g would be the 7th week of the month LOL

OK here goes.

07g K237

ST-68-12437 LOS 4676

TR749 R-R

VIN
124378L348263

Any help would be great. If some of my numbers/characters are impossible, please let me know and I will double check them with the owner of the car.

Thanks

Thank you Mark,
Can anything be found from the VIN? Does the VIN I have match the Tag info? I am being told this car is (to the best the owners knowledge) an SS. From reading archinves here I have seen that we can't verify SS or not from VIN or Tag info. Are there tell tale signs on the car to look for besides the SS emblems?

Thanks

One thing I will say is this; Assume every SS or Z28 advertised is a clone (fake) unless its can be proven otherwise. So many add trims etc to make it look like something it is not and firmly believe there is nothing wrong with that.

The only thing that going to prove this car is an SS is original documentation. Sure if you have the time and the knowledge to inspect the car from top to bottom, you probably could dtermine with certainty if it is or is not. But trying to do that from info gather from hearsay is a challenge.
