I believe what you have here is a 1966 396-325hp that was originally mated to a TH400 in a full size Chev.
The R on the end merely indicates that it had a Rochester Carb. they did that for a couple of engine codes.

I don't have any books handy so never looked up anything else - like the block casting number.

It's best if I tranfer this to the forum: Tag Team - this area is more for website updates and ideas.

6L12382 is a VIN code

This engine came from a;
6=1966 model year car
L=Built in the Los Angele Plant
12382 should be 6 digits long and be the last 6 from the cars VIN, a Full Size Passenger car, i.e. Impala, Caprice, Belaire, Biscayne, + Sta-wgns

T1025IVR is the engine application code for a:

T=Tonawanda NY engine plant built
10=in the month of October
25=on the 25th day of the month
IV=being a 396-325 H.P. RPO L35 mated to a TH400 transmission, used in all states less CA.
R=and factory equiped with a Rochester carb as opposed to a Holley (H).
