I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 68 CAMARO, MY QUESTION IS THIS: THE GLOVE BOX DOOR HAS A LOCK, BUT THE PREVIOUS OWNER LOST THE KEY!! WHAT IS AN EASY WAY TO GET OUT THE OLD LOCK SO I CAN REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE, SHORT OF DRILLING OUT THE OLD LOCK? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS

Mine uses the trunk key. Do you only have the ignition key?

Assuming the glovebox door isn't locked now...
Remove the glovebox door and take it to the locksmith and they can make a new key to fit it.
It should be the same as the trunk. If not have them re key it to the trunk key.

Isn't the trunk key supposed to be the same as the door key?

The ignition key is usually the same as the door key. Keeps you from having to change keys from "unlock" to "start".

I'll make a broad assumption that the glove box is locked and Barry has tried every key in his possession to no avail. I also think the glove box key is the same as the trunk key.
Barry, the way the locks works is that when the button is pushed, a lever is pulled down away from a plate at the top of the glove box opening, allowing the door to fall open.
The glove box is cardboard. I would suggest making a hole in the bottom of the glove box from under the dash and then use a wire, or some other device, to reach up, hook, and pull down the lever. You can buy a new glove box for $15.
By the way, the one in my 67 never wants to come open by just pushing the button. I usually have to have the key in the lock so I can push the button and pull open the door at the same time.

YES, THE DOOR IS LOCKED AND NONE OF THE OTHER KEYS I HAVE WORK. THE TRUNK OR IGNITION KEY WILL NOT WORK EITHER. ONE OR THE OTHER HAS BEEN CHANGED AT SOME TIME. I HAVE ORDERED A NEW COMPLETE LOCK SET AND WILL CHANGE ALL THE LOCKS. I JUST DON'T WANT TO TEAR THE HELL OUT OF MY GLOVE BOX TRYING TO GET IT OPEN. I APPRECIATE THE RESPONSES AND I WILL KEEP TRYING, HOPEFULLY, WITH ANY LUCK, I'LL GET IT OPEN AND WON'T HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE. THANKS AGAIN
