Definitely a RS/SS car. A 4P code with a 2M code is a SS. When you get into the 2L (4 speed) codes, then the 4P could be a L30 or a L48 (SS350).

Could you post the VIN?
Original drivetrain? If you post the #'s we can help determine that.
Your car may have a radius rod on the rear axle or maybe just the brackets for it.

I've tried to find a number on the block but haven't yet. The car is not on a lift so I'm stuck trying to wiggle around under it. The rear axle is a ten bolt which doesn't jive with the SS or L30 package whichare evidently the only two options for my car tag. The axle had no visible markings to read for drivetrain--I wonder if some one had taken the 12 bolt off in the past and it was replaced by a 10--? Doesn't look like there were any 10 bolts shipped with the 4p option. This car has been changed with adding 350trans, manifold, carb, coil, etc.
It is interesting to note that the side emblems are for the V8 327 while the hood and grill are ss with appropriate parking and reverse light configuration for RS/SS.

Your car is a SS350, no question. L30's were stamped 4P only when the car had a 4 speed.

Look at the sketch of the rear axle on the 'Decoding' link I posted. A jack and a wire brush and you should be able to find the #'s.
Is there a mount for the radius rod on the rear passenger floor pan? I've seen a car built the same time as yours that had just the bolts thru the floor, but no mount.

The engine code should be on the front engine pad. Nothing there or too much paint?
What's the block casting # and date (rear edge of the block)?

BTW, the parking and reverse lights are indicative of RS, not RS/SS. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
