12C = build date, 3rd week of Dec. (1966)
N359 = internal plant code for dating of production
67 = Model Year
12637 - Sport Coupe, custom interior
LOS = Los Angeles Assembly Plant
11809 = Body Unit Number, Assigned by Fisher Body, no relation to the VIN
797-z
797 - Parchment custom buckets
Z - Bucket seats
there should be 2 letters or a letter and a 1 or 2 if it had a vinyl top here for the boldy color followed by pnt.
if you find it you can tell what color it was(is?). unless the E is on the line with the 797-z, then it would be Deepwater Blue.

E 2EMGSP 3 SL
5 Y
Group 1
E - all tinted windows
Group 2
E - air conditioning
M - Powerglide transmission
G - center console
S - rear antenna
show no P. maybe a R?
R - rear seat speaker
Group 3
Interior/Exterior
S - RPO Z23 option, interior decor
L - RPO Z22, Rally Sport Equipment
If there was no designation in Group 4 (like yours), the car was either a 327 V-8 or six-cylinder model.
Group 5
Y - deluxe seat belts

sounds like a pretty heavily optioned rs.
group 3 L is what tells you it was a rally sport. if you post the vin, you can tell v-8 or 6 and what # it was.
example: 124377L150000
4- Engine- 4=8-cylinder (3=6-cylinder - 123377)
150000 = 150,000th camaro built at LA.

Thanks for the response. Wow, now I am confused.
VIN 124377L12899. Deepwater blue, blk vinyl top, parchment dlx, rear antenna, tint glass, 327 PG, but never had air and can't find any rs remnants ?. rechecked the trim tag and you are right about the P being an R.
One other thing is there is an M6 to the right of the 797-Z on the tag.

I am doubting the deepwater blue now too. The car paint is stripped except inside doors. I think that the door paint is royal plum. Still no A/C or rs components ?
VIN # 124377L128299

124377L12899
'67 v-8 coupe
12899 - missing a # here, should be 6 digits.
M6
MM - Royal Plum, so it is plum and not blue (if the e was on this line, it would of been blue)
not sure on the 6, but camaro.org shows it as a white vinyl top.

The VIN matches the trim tag which matches the door, so it doesn't seem that things have been changed on the car.

Are the backup lights below the rear bumper? Any holes in the trunk for the wiring for these lights?
Should be lots of evidence of AC on the car. Is there a valve under the cowl vent grille on the passenger side? Should be screw holes for it at least.

No wiring for the rs lights in the trunk and no a/c components under the dash. this car is overall pretty original in that it appears never any major accidents and the wiring throughout the car is uncut and original. Looks like it did not get built to the trim tag ?

I'm not quite ready to believe that yet.

The AC valve I was asking about is visible only on the exterior of the car thru the cowl grille.

Could you check for the partial VIN which is stamped on the front edge of the cowl, visible thru the passenger side cowl grille? Should be visible without removing the cowl grille.

I checked the VIN in the cowl area it matches C7..... Did not know that was there. There is no A/C valve in the cowl.

This post goes back a while but now that the car is disassembled for paint, I found that it was converted from an rs to a base. A coupe clone I guess. Very nice job on both the body stuff and the wiring.

And air conditioning never. The cowl is unrepaired and vin number match is there. There are none of the extra a/c holes and are no cutouts on the dash for the vents. The dash has never had repair on either side where the lower vents go.

All the other options are there including rear antenna, speaker wire, tint windows, royal plum paint, vinyl roof, deluxe interior.

So off to the paint shop for royal plum. Thanks for your help.
